Decline in Morals and Values
The decline in morals and values played a large factor in the fall of the Roman Empire. Emperors such as Nero and Caligula would waste the city's money on opulent parties where the attending guests ate and drink until they grew ill. (Fall of Rome Packet) The violence and crime also made the streets of Rome very hazardous. Roman citizens grew a passion for utter cruelty. "The most well-attended amusement was the gladiator combats taking place in the coliseum. The fights were to the death and were attended by the poor, rich, and often times even the emperor. One contest after another was taking place in the span of a single day. If the arena was too covered with blood, it was simply covered with a fresh layer of sand, and the revolting experiences kept going on." (Fall of Rome Packet) Evidently, the morals and values were declining terribly, contributing to the fall of Rome.

Dear Sandra,
ReplyDeleteYour information was good, but too many sentences sounded like it came straight from the packet. My tip for you is to put quotes around a few sentences.
